September Challenge week 2

carriektraining

Last week was a shorter week with the holiday + starting on a Wednesday. We have a FULL week to get some hard things done :)

Here are the Challenge focus items for this week:

  • Complete 3x CK classes this week

  • Complete 2 days of 30-minute cardio sessions. Can be anything from jogging, running, hill walking, spinning, etc

  • Add this total body blast to one day: 40 weighted steps-ups (break up as needed) 40 weighted squats with a miniband 40 Push-ups 40 weighted shoulder presses 40 shoulder taps in plank 40 Sit-ups holding a weight at the chest

Let me know how it goes this week!

I touched on this topic in my Saturday barre class--regarding cardio. Don't let the hype surrounding too much cardio/steady state cardio is best/blah blah blah make you avoid all cardio. I love strength training just as much as you do, but there is value in cardio sessions too! Too much of ANYTHING can back fire. 2-3 days of strength training or barre + 2-3 days of cardio is the perfect mix for longevity and health. Aside from the physical benefits of cardio days, there are major mental and emotional benefits as well. I have always said the world would be a much happier place if everyone was required to do a 30 minute walk each day.
